I recently found one of their acoustic shows where they do all of the old traditional mexican stuff and it is wonderful. I just can't take it off. (well, since it is marin they play bertha; always seem to play bertha in bay area shows.) Fortunately I get to see them once a year or so; which is one of those things in life I try not to take for granted. They are all just super fine musicians; and it is a testomony to them as individuals and as a band that they have been together for so long.

I always kind of liked them, but once I began seeing them play live I became a convert for life.

Recently I read how they went back to their old high school in el lay and helped in reconstructing the school's aud, since it had been destroyed due to fire. I guess it was the first or second place they played together. You could tell that they really appreciated their beginnings and what they received from the school. They were more than willing to help in any way they could. Their level of involvement was good to see in this day and age. It was just a really positive scene.

Time to check-out their site..

thanks for the info...

As I recall, they did a cover of Bertha on a tribute album in the early 90s. Deadicated, I believe it was.

Is the accoustic show an official release or a concert. If a concert what is the date? I need to track that down.

It was at marin veteran's memorial aud in san rafeal on Sept 19, 92. I think my recording is just an aud, though it is fine sounding and it has me wanting for more. Though I am a major sucker for this set list.

I would put it on now, but it makes me dance and bring out the bohemias...

Here is the set list:

I think you will like the version of when the circus comes to town.

I really like La Pistola Y El Corazon, among others

hearing them always makes me smile and gets my foot a tappin'.

Have you ever seen or heard any david and louie shows? I am just seeing that they are touring together.

I have never seen David & Louie or Los Lobos, outside of their Austin City Limits performances. Next time they are in town I need to catch them.

Wine - Go to SF for the Fillmore shows........they play there each December. Worth the travel. Honestly.

Addition....In fact, drive to Chico, park here and ride w/ me to SF for a show! That would be most radical. Don't you think?

They are playing May 23rd, Golden State Theatre, Monterey (followed by Emmylou on May 29). I'm there, but defintely would recommend the Fillmore over Golden State since more party vibe at former. Catching them at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz is always fun as well.

Would love to catch up with you guys at the show, but work, family, coaching baseball, etc, etc makes impromptu road trips tough. Have a good time and I'll catch them in Portland. If you happen to be up here too, then give me a heads up. I'd be happy to show you the sights in our fair city.
